Six signs a job post is worth your hour

Done properly, one application costs about an hour: reading the post, twenty minutes of company research, tuning the resume, answering the questions. That hour is your scarcest search resource. Spend it like money, and make every job post earn it first.

The six signs, in checking order

• Fresh. Posted within days, not weeks. Early applications get read; late ones fight a formed line, per why order matters.
• Live at the source. Still on the company’s own careers page, not just on a board’s copy. This is the one-step ghost job test.
• Specific. Names the team, the scope, the first problems. Vague posts predict vague processes.
• Coherent bar. Title, requirements, and seniority tell one story instead of three; the decoding guide is read a job post like an insider.
• Salary posture you can live with. A range you clear, or a deliberate decision to proceed without one, armed with the undisclosed-range playbook.
• You clear the core. The top three requirements, honestly. The rest of the list is negotiable.
