Peer Educator

The Seaway Valley Prevention Council seeks a self-directed and compassionate individual to serve as a full-time Peer Educator. The Peer Educator collaborates across the agency's recovery and prevention programs. The Educator is responsible for delivering evidence-based programming in local community-based settings, including but not limited to treatment facilities, recovery programs, and criminal justice settings. The Educator is also responsible for meeting one-on-one with individuals in recovery, assisting with the harm reduction program, and facilitating the Recovery Coach Academy series. The Educator must assist with prevention community events and one-time presentations in community-based organizations and local school districts. Applicants must be able to work both independently and as a member of a collaborative team. Successful applicants must be comfortable with public speaking and enjoy community engagement, working with community members from all backgrounds and ages. The position requires travel throughout St. Lawrence County and to Lewis and Jefferson Counties. Some evening and weekend hours are required for community events and programming. The minimum requirement is an associate's degree in Education, Public Health, or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred. The successful applicant must work towards their recovery and prevention credentials (CRPA, CPS) upon hire. Submit a cover letter and resume via the Bamboo HR link by September 25, 2026.
