The Role As a Senior Analyst on the Total Fund Management Portfolio Management Engineering team, you will analyze, design, test, and support data-driven capabilities and technology solutions that enable portfolio-management decisions. You will combine analytical judgement with an understanding of portfolio-management workflows to translate business needs into clear requirements, practical insights, and well-reasoned recommendations, while contributing across delivery, operational support, and continuous improvement. The Team The Total Fund Management Technology team supports the enterprise-level investment structure and processes used to manage CPP Investments’ Total Portfolio. Within the team, Portfolio Management Engineering builds platforms and analytical capabilities that enable portfolio construction, monitoring, and decision-making at scale, working closely with investment professionals, Risk, Operations, Product Managers, and peer Technology teams. Accountabilities Deliver medium-complexity analysis, data products, and solution enhancements that support portfolio construction, monitoring, and Total Fund Management decision-making in an Agile environment. Frame ambiguous business questions and translate portfolio-management needs into clear analytical requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, insights, and recommendations. Apply strong analytical, data-quality, and documentation practices to build trusted outputs, validate assumptions, reconcile results, and clearly communicate limitations, risks, and trade-offs. Partner with Product Managers, investment professionals, Risk, Operations, and Technology teams to gather requirements, prioritize work, test solutions, and incorporate user feedback. Support analytical and technology capabilities throughout their lifecycle, including discovery, design, testing, release, adoption, production support, and continuous improvement. Facilitate root-cause analysis of data, process, and operational issues, coordinating sustainable solutions and helping establish shared definitions and data-quality controls. Contribute to a culture of learning and continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, coaching junior colleagues, strengthening team standards, and maintaining trusted relationships across business, Technology, Data, and vendor partners. What You Bring Undergraduate degree or college diploma in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or another relevant quantitative discipline. 5+ years of relevant experience in business analysis, data analysis, investment technology, portfolio analytics, product analysis, or a comparable analytical role. Working knowledge of capital markets and portfolio-management concepts, including portfolio construction, performance, exposures, liquidity, and investment decision-making workflows; institutional investment-management, risk, or financial-analytics experience is an asset. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure complex questions, assess data quality, exercise sound judgement, and communicate conclusions, assumptions, risks, and trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences. Experience with data and analytical tools such as SQL, Python, R, BI or visualization tools, or comparable technologies; experience with cloud-based analytics platforms, data pipelines, APIs, or version-controlled practices is an asset. Experience partnering with stakeholders to define requirements and outcomes, prioritize work, and validate solutions in an Agile or iterative delivery environment. Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, ownership, and the ability to manage competing priorities; experience developing dashboards or user-facing analytical tools and using AI-assisted analytics or development tools responsibly is an asset.
